Paul Higdon Smith

Paul E. Higdon-Smith entered into his eternal rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the age of 72. He is survived by his loving husband Tony Higdon-Smith, mother-in-law Peggy Clary, siblings David (Chandra) Smith, Dana Smith and Heather Smith, along with so many other family members and close friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Patricia A. Smith (nee Arnold), his siblings Suzanne Smith and Robert E. Smith, Jr., and his beloved nephew Mason Stottlemire. Paul was a Navy brat, born December 29, 1953 in Portsmouth, VA. His lifelong love of travel developed from their moves to places including Morocco, Africa and New York, NY. Paul’s love of family was strong and meant everything to him as evidenced by him and Tony sharing their home and lives with Heather and her boys, Mason and Maddox Stottlemire, who lovingly called him “Pop-Pop”. Paul graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1973, was a professional photographer, loved all types of music, and enjoyed traveling and camping with Tony by his side. He was an excellent handyman, gardener, decorator, chef, tailor and all-around problem solver. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 2 to 5 pm at Deerfield Commons Community Center, 5629 Deerfield Circle in Mason, Ohio. To honor Paul, the family asks that you wear your favorite Hawaiian print shirts/tropical attire and come celebrate his beautiful life with us.
