Okona Eric Kambelu

Okona Eric Kambelu, age 63, passed away on January 26, 2022. He was born on July 11, 1958 in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo to Jack Kambelu and Jacqueline Baleja. In 1983, he immigrated to the United States. Okona was courageous. He came to a new country and made the best of his situation. Despite the challenges, he persevered. Okona went on to attend Miami University in Oxford, OH where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He was earnest. Bright. Hardworking. Okona had an extensive career that took him from Club Chef to the Talbert House-Cornerstone to Children Services in Hamilton County. He returned to Club Chef later in life and worked there until 2021. Okona is survived by his son Eustace Kambelu, his partner of many years, Ellen Henderson; his sister Ntembele (Rebecca) Kambelu; his nephew Alpha Ouattara and his nieces Aisha and Colette Ouattara. He was strong, loved and will be missed. A visitation will be at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way, Fairfield at Rt. 4, Friday, February 18, 2022, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM until time of funeral service at 12PM.
