Miyeko Lucinda "Lucy" Reed

Miyeko Lucinda “Lucy” Hiraga Reed of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Lucy was born in Santa Maria, California, and lived there until World War II. As a young child, she and her family were placed in the Manzanar War Relocation Camp in Lone Pine, California. After the war, her family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she graduated from St. Thomas High School and met her husband of 64 years, Donald Allan Reed, who preceded her in death in 2024. Together, she and Donald had four children, Mark Reed, Tim (Terri) Reed, Lisa (Joe) Wiesman, and Terri (Greg Fauver) Reed. The joy of her life was her 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The Reed family moved to Fairfield, Ohio, in 1978, where Lucy worked as a secretary at Sacred Heart of Jesus School for many years. Lucy loved to cook and especially to feed everyone. No one ever went hungry if they came to visit. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, and loved a good family Scrabble tournament. She was an eternal optimist, which shone through in her love of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. We will all miss her infectious laugh and the absolute love and kindness she showed to everyone she met. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, at Hilltop Baptist Church, 2425 Mack Road, Fairfield, Ohio, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Barry Wilson officiating. Guests are invited to join the family for lunch at the church following the funeral.
