Michael P. Brennan age 81 of Fairfield Township passed away on Wednesday December 27th, 2023. He was born on March 21, 1942 in Cincinnati the son of the late William and Dorothee (Powers) Brennan. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and a West Point nominee. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in business. He was married to Diane Brennan and she preceded him in death in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jeri Brennan; five children Kellee (Shawn) Fields, Michael W. (Bill Walters) Brennan, Christi (Joshua) Horsley, Jonathan (Katy) Brennan and Ryan Brennan; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves behind many other family and close friends. His brother Tom Brennan preceded him in death.

Michael was a man of action, serving the communities in which he lived and worked. He was a trustee and president of the Savings and Loan League of Southwestern Ohio and an instructor and board member of the Institute of Financial Education. He actively served his parish church and was a member of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and the Exchange Club of Cincinnati. He established the Seven-Step Foundation in Southern Ohio helping formerly incarcerated individuals transition to civilian life. He served as president of the Morgan-Ross Athletic Association and coached many youth teams.

Starting as a teller in 1964, Michael worked his way up to president, managing officer and director of several neighborhood focused savings and loan institutions including Gateway Federal Savings, Deer Park Federal, The Westwood Homestead Savings Bank, and Bethel Community Savings Bank. As bank president he invested in people and communities. He mentored many young banking professionals and dedicated his career to community partnerships and banking turnarounds.

Michael founded the Great Bearcat Run for the benefit of the University of Cincinnati in the 1980’s which lasted for 25 years. In 2009, Michael founded the Hamilton Joes Collegiate Baseball Club which has had five players enter the major leagues.

Visitation will be on Tuesday January 2nd, 2024 at St. Julie Billiart Parish 224 Dayton St. Hamilton OH 45011 from 9:00AM until the time of the mass at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Cemetery in Shandon, OH with full military honors. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
