Mary Lou Talley

Mary Lou Saundra Gates Talley, 96 years old, passed away peacefully at the home of her son, January 8, 2024 in Fairfield Township, Ohio. She was born December 14, 1927 in Roxboro, NC to the late Dallas G. Gates and Fannie Breeze Gates. In addition to her parents, Grandma Lou is predeceased by her daughter, Rhonda S. Talley Oakley and her brothers: Dewey W. Gates & wife Ruby E. Carver Gates; Phillip T. Gates & wife, Irene M. Gates; Dallas Gates, Jr & wife Louise McKinney Gates. Her sisters: Mae Frances Gates Gentry & husband Theodore Gentry; Annie Belle Gates Hawkins & husband Oscar Hawkins; Izona Gates Murray & husband Floyd Murray; Birdie Gates Adams & husband Maynard Adams.

Mary Lou is survived by her son Ric Talley of Fairfield Township, OH and her grandchildren : Joseph E. Talley of San Juan, PR; Bridgette R. Talley of Bellefontaine, OH; Adam J. Talley of Fairfield Township, OH; Troy W. Kaspar (Brenda) of Panama City, FL; her great granddaughter : Vaida Jade Fullerton of Bellefontaine, OH and former daughter-in-law Therese Talley.

Grandma Lou loved to visit the beach especially Carolina Beach, NC. She was an avid collector and enthusiast of tea pots, clocks and gnomes. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild as this was one of her greatest joys. She also enjoyed time spent with her numerous nieces and nephews when possible.

Per Grandma Lou’s wishes she was cremated. A graveside Celebration of Life will take place at Person Memorial Cemetery, 3250 Hwy 501, Roxboro, NC at a later date at the families’ convenience.
