María Emérita Castellanos Rodríguez, amada hija y hermana, esposa, madre, suegra, abuela, bisabuela, tatarabuela, tía, educadora y fiel servidora de Dios, falleció el 7 de octubre de 2026.

Nació el 22 de septiembre de 1940 en La Trinidad, Comayagua, Honduras. Sus padres fueron Florencio Castellanos y Tiburcia Rodríguez. En su lugar de origen, era conocida cariñosamente como Aida, nombre por el que muchas personas de su comunidad la recordaban con afecto.

Emérita dedicó su vida a su familia y a su comunidad de Las Lajas, Comayagua, donde fue una mujer profundamente respetada y querida. Se ganó el cariño y la admiración de muchas personas gracias a su amabilidad, generosidad, sabiduría y entrega a los demás.

A lo largo de su vida, la profesora Emérita sirvió como docente en la comunidad de Las Tierras, La Trinidad, Comayagua, donde se distinguió por su dedicación y compromiso con la educación. También brindó sus servicios como subdirectora en la Escuela Domingo Vásquez, ubicada en el municipio de Las Lajas, departamento de Comayagua, Honduras, dejando una huella significativa en la vida de sus estudiantes y en las comunidades a las que dedicó su vocación.

Estuvo casada con Gustavo Caballero Córdoba y fue madre de siete hijos: Ilsa Castellanos, Iris Janet Caballero Castellanos, Betty Eduviges Caballero Castellanos, Manuel de Jesús Caballero Castellanos, Carlos Alberto Caballero Castellanos, María de los Ángeles Caballero Castellanos y Gustavo Caballero Castellanos.

Emérita compartió su vida con sus hermanos: Magdalena Castellanos Rodríguez, Miguel Ángel Castellanos Rodríguez, José Rosa Castellanos Rodríguez, Estilita Castellanos Rodríguez, Fidel Castellanos Rodríguez, Santos Castellanos Rodríguez y María Audina Castellanos Rodríguez. De sus hermanos, Santos Castellanos Rodríguez es quien le sobrevive.

Emérita tuvo la dicha de formar parte de varias generaciones de su familia, dejando un legado de amor que continúa a través de sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos. Su influencia y sus enseñanzas permanecerán vivas en cada generación que tuvo la bendición de conocerla y compartir con ella.

María Emérita Castellanos Rodríguez, a beloved daughter and sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, educator, and faithful servant of God, passed away on October 7, 2026.

She was born on September 22, 1940, in La Trinidad, Comayagua, Honduras. Her parents were Florencio Castellanos and Tiburcia Rodríguez. In her hometown, she was affectionately known as Aida, the name by which many people in her community remembered her with love and fondness.

Emérita dedicated her life to her family and her community of Las Lajas, Comayagua, where she was deeply respected and cherished. She earned the love and admiration of many through her kindness, generosity, wisdom, and dedication to others.

Throughout her life, Professor Emérita served as a teacher in the community of Las Tierras, La Trinidad, Comayagua, where she distinguished herself through her dedication and commitment to education. She also served as assistant principal at Domingo Vásquez School, located in the municipality of Las Lajas, Department of Comayagua, Honduras, leaving a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of her students and the communities to which she devoted her vocation.

Above all, Emérita was a woman of profound faith. She faithfully served the Catholic Church, particularly Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Las Lajas, Comayagua. Her relationship with God was at the center of her life. She was always willing to share spiritual guidance, offer advice inspired by her faith, and remind others of the importance of love and family unity. Her wisdom, noble character, and devotion to God were an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Emérita was an extraordinary mother, a loving aunt, a devoted grandmother, and an exemplary teacher. She was known for her noble character, generosity, and special ability to offer guidance and comfort to those who turned to her. She cherished family unity, remained devoted to God, and was deeply committed to the well-being of her community. Her life was an example of love, faith, humility, and service to others.

She was married to Gustavo Caballero Córdoba and was the mother of seven children: Ilsa Castellanos, Iris Janet Caballero Castellanos, Betty Eduviges Caballero Castellanos, Manuel de Jesús Caballero Castellanos, Carlos Alberto Caballero Castellanos, María de los Ángeles Caballero Castellanos, and Gustavo Caballero Castellanos.

Emérita shared her life with her siblings: Magdalena Castellanos Rodríguez, Miguel Ángel Castellanos Rodríguez, José Rosa Castellanos Rodríguez, Estilita Castellanos Rodríguez, Fidel Castellanos Rodríguez, Santos Castellanos Rodríguez, and María Audina Castellanos Rodríguez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Webster Funeral Home, located at 3080 Homeward Way, Fairfield, Ohio 45014.

The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM at the same funeral home.
