Loretta Dolores Caudill passed peacefully on April 19, 2024, after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Amelia Bokeno and David William Young, she was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 4, 1934 the oldest of 3 children. She attended St. Ann’s Catholic School in Hamilton, then Notre Dame High School for girls before transferring to Hamilton High School where she met Richard Warren Caudill, the love of her life. They married July 10, 1954 in Hamilton and remained married for 56 years until Richard’s death in 2010. Loretta was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by 3 of her 4 children, P. Gale Hadaway (Tim), Michael Caudill (Elizabeth), Richard Caudill (Lisa), 11 grandchildren, Jared and Carly Hadaway, Katie, Alex (Jade), Jack (Morgan) and Linsley Caudill, Trey (Hannah) and Drew Dyer, and Campbell, Cooper and Caroline Caudill and great grandson Forrest. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy Young Wood in 2015, her brother Robert J. Young in 2023, and her daughter Karen Caudill Dyer in 2022.
Raised in the Lindenwald neighborhood and after graduating from high school, Loretta worked for the Mosler Safe Company and the City of Hamilton in administrative services. Later she worked for Connaughton Welding & Fence Company where she was the financial administrator for many years. In 1970 the family moved from Hamilton to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where her husband became the President/ General Manager of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. There Loretta was active in her church, St Ignatius, as a member of the Women’s Guild and Outreach Ministry in addition to her four children’s activities. She loved bowling, often playing in leagues, knitting, travelling and golf. One of her passions was founding a charitable foundation with her husband in 2005, whose mission was helping women and children in need.
After 49 years in Palm Beach Gardens she relocated to Alpharetta, Georgia to be near her children and grandchildren. Though always active with her charity work, her last few years were spent enjoying her family and spending time with friends.
Visitation on Friday May 17, 2024 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 3028 Pleasant Avenue, Hamilton from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with Father Larry Tharp, officiating. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to the I See U Ministries in Cleveland Georgia.
