Lewis Glenn "Lew" Lucas ("Uncle Lump") Lewis Glenn Lucas, affectionately known as "Lew" and lovingly called "Uncle Lump" by those closest to him, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2026, with his sisters by his side. Не was 73 years old. Lew was born on January 8, 1953, to Carol Johnson and was the first of her six children. As the oldest, he embraced the role of big brother and family leader from an early age. Dedicated to serving both his family and his country, Lew enlisted in the United States Navy, hoping to help support his mother and younger siblings. During his twelve years of military service, Lew trained as a Navy SEAL and proudly served his country until a service-related injury forced his retirement. His commitment to service did not end there. After leaving the military, Lew continued protecting and serving others as a law enforcement officer before later finding success in a career as an electrical engineer. Lew had a deep love for the outdoors and rarely passed up an opportunity to be on the water, in the woods, or exploring nature. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, rappelling, and any adventure that took him outside. A dedicated martial artist, he trained extensively in Karate and eventually became an instructor, sharing his knowledge and discipline with others. He was also an accomplished marksman who taught competitive shooting and took great pride in helping others develop their skills. A lifelong hunter and gifted storyteller, Lew had a way of captivating those around him. While many hunters tell fish stories, Lew's tales often grew into legendary "bear stories" that left family and friends laughing and wanting to hear more. Though his stories were larger than life, his character was firmly grounded in the values he held dear-honor, service, loyalty, and personal integrity. Lew was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Johnson; his brother, James Lucas; his sister-in-law, Paula Lucas; and his sister, Kathleen Lucas. He leaves behind his son, Mitchell Lucas; grandchildren (to be listed later); his sisters, Linda (John) Clark and Sheryl Johnson; his brother, Jeffrey James; his nieces, Coby Johnson, Jonie Clark, Sarah Clark, and nephew Joshua Clark; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great-niece; and an abundance of lifelong friends who became family along the way. Lew's life was defined by service, strength, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, leadership, and countless stories that will continue to be shared for generations. Burial will take place on Friday July 10, 2026 at 10:00AM at Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who touched so many lives. Time will be reserved for those who wish to speak and share stories in honor of Lew. Though he is no longer with us, Lew’s spirit lives on in every adventure taken, every lesson taught and every story told.
