John Brian Palmer died in his home early in the week of August 9, 2026. He was 68.
A lifelong resident of the Hamilton area, John graduated from Taft High School in 1976 and briefly attended Miami University. He worked at the Cinema West, Triangle Electric, and ADT Security before settling into a 30-year career with the US Postal Service, delivering mail in Hamilton, Fairfield, and Liberty Township. He played paintball, ran several long-term Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, gave his all to his family, and never met a stranger.
John is preceded in death by his grandmother, Desdemona (Cooper) Palmer; parents, Roger and Irene (Riess) Palmer; wife, Jean (Van Doren) Palmer; brother, Bil Palmer; brothers-in-law, Ray Peters and Jay Spielman; dear friends, Mark Tennyson and Bob Fox; and beloved dogs, Kilo, Loko, Mel, Rocket, Jack, Buffy, Willow, and Spike. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Palmer-Lee (Noah), Jennifer Wischer, and Gillian Palmer (Quinn); siblings, Linda Stryker (Greg), Nancy Palmer, David Palmer (Patti), and Amy Peters; beloved dogs, Saorise, Inanna, and Ishtar; nieces and nephews, Michelle, Erika, Crystal, Lauren, Emily, Nathan, and Ryan; “Jen 2”’s children, Jayge, Korban, and Aelyn; and countless friends all over town.
A green burial service will be held Tuesday, August 18 at 11:00AM at Heritage Acres Memorial Sanctuary 796 Locust Corner Rd Cincinnati 45245. If you wish, bring flowers from your own garden or a small selection from your local grocery. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
