Joel “Andre” Garrett, Sr. age 87 of Hamilton passed away Wednesday July 8, 2026 and was the baby boy of a family of thirteen children. He was born August 10, 1938 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of the late Albert Garrett and Minerva Richardson Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a 1956 graduate of Ross High School. He was a butcher at the Kroger Company for over 43 years and trained many of the other butchers over the years. He was a devoted Christian for over sixty years and attended Tuley Road Pentecostal Church and the Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God. Mr. Garrett loved to hunt, fish, his family, and to have fun. People gravitated toward his kind heart, words of wisdom, and his contagious laugh. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years Elizabeth “Betty” Garrett; three children Drema (Rick) Scheiba, Joel (Brenda) Garrett Jr., and Teresa Emmons; five grandchildren Melissa (Scott) McComas, Michael Garrett, Tyler (Isabella) Garrett, Elizabeth Emmons, and Elina Emmons; four great grandchildren Austin McComas, Madison McComas, Andoni Garrett, and Ximena Garrett. Mr. Garrett is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Garrett was also preceded in death by his siblings Kenneth Garrett, David Garrett, Leslie Garrett, Vernon Garrett, Oscar Garrett, Louis Garrett, Harold Garrett, Donald Garrett, Juanita Price, Lavilda Isaacs, Betty Lou Hilling, and Addie Mae Bollinger. Visitation on Tuesday July 14, 2026 at the Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God, 1321 Pater Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Dennis Metheny, officiating.
