James A. Gaitin

James A. Gaitin age 81 of Liberty Township passed away on Tuesday August 20, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT the son of the late Armand and Lucille (nee Lujan) Gaitin. Jim was a professional baseball player in his early years, playing for several clubs including the Cincinnati Reds Organization. He became the district corporate manager for AmeriGas Propane. He loved his family and was affectionally known to his grandchildren as “PaPa Jim”. He is survived by his wife Mary Gaitin; one daughter Rhonda (Phil) Hobbs; four grandchildren Zach (Linsey) Hobbs, Abigail Hobbs, Ashley (Matthew) Shevlin, and Justin Godwin; seven great grandchildren William Hobbs, Walker Hobbs, Kaitlyn Barker, Kaedan Shevlin, Madison Shevlin, Lilliana Godwin, and Jayce Godwin; two siblings Armando (Maria) Gaitin and Lucille (Robert) Valenzuela. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other family and close friends. Jim was also preceded in death by his daughter Robyn Gaitin-Clements; four siblings Patricia Gaitin, Leo Gaitin, George Gaitin, and Richard Gaitin. Visitation will be at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church 7127 Dutchland Pkwy Liberty Township, OH 45044 on Monday August 26, 2024 from 10:00AM until the time of the memorial service at 10:30AM.
