It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of our beloved mother, wife, and cherished grammy, Jacqulyn “Jackie” Bechtold. She left this world as she lived in it, authentically, generously, and with a spirit that could light up any room. She suffered numerous serious illnesses over the past few years but bought fought them all with grit, determination, and grace right up until the end.

She was born in rural southern Illinois and grew up on a modest horse farm, raised by her grandparents, which is where she found her love of animals, especially dogs. After high school graduation, she moved to Chicago to be near her mother, and met her first and only love, our dad, Robert “Bob” Bechtold. They had Leslie (Ted) and Shawn and moved to Fairfield, OH in 1975.

Jackie was a stay-at-home wife until her kids started school and then she began her career as an Administrator where she worked for more than 30 years. It was a job she loved, and she cared for the people she worked with deeply. She was one of a kind with a sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor that kept everyone laughing, even during hard times. Her hugs were healing, and her heart was always open. She helped raise her family in a way to avoid all of her families past mistakes with courage and grace and showed us all what true strength looks like. She was a trusted friend that brought people together with her laughter and kindness. Her selfless spirit, authenticity, and ability to make others feel valued were unmatched.

She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — a cold Coke, playing bridge, watching her favorite sports teams, music, dancing, and knitting. Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved us fiercely. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, and her cherished grandkids: Regan, Avery, and Adalyn, as well as her sister-in-law Pilar and her nephew Joe (Tammy) and niece Michelle (Juan) and her great nephews and nieces, Danielle, Christian, and Mia, as well as Murphy, her beloved dog.

Her legacy is one of love, laughter, authenticity, generosity, and kindness. She will be missed deeply, remembered often, and loved forever. In her honor, we ask that you remember our mom with a smile. She made many friends throughout her life, and she loved them all dearly. We request your patience and prayers as we attempt the impossible and try to adjust to life without her. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.  Services will be private.
