BERDING, Gregory Joseph Berding, age 50, of Cincinnati, passed away November 16, 2023.
Greg was born January 26, 1973. He was a loving son to Joan (Delbert) Scott and Gerald (Jacque) Berding. Devoted brother to Kim (Nick) Schmidt, Peter (Jennifer) Christo, Kim (Steve) Hirsch, Jeff (Lindsay) Berding, Craig Christo, Michael (Susan) Berding, Stephen (Vicki Huth) Christo, Ken Christo, Karen (Fred) Cox, additionally Kim, Todd, and Troy (Stacey) Scott. Caring nephew to Gloria (Tom) Toschlog, Sue (Jerry) Sheppard, John Maher, Donald Maher, Julie (John) Vecchitto, Peter (Ellen) Goode, Ken (Lorry) Goode, Bruce (Dale) Lloyd. Dedicated uncle to 31 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and great-nephews, and a loyal cousin to many. Greg established a career in the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts office before becoming an entrepreneur. He was a business owner, partnering with his father and brother since 2009 in their pharmaceutical packaging business. He established a solid sales territory in Michigan and was the Director of Accounts Receivable.Greg loved his family, his Lancers, Bengals, Bearcats, Reds, and FC Cincinnati, and especially his dog Barkley. Despite never marrying, he found fulfillment in the meaningful connections he forged with friends and family. His commitment to his loved ones was unwavering, and he took pride in being a supportive brother, son, and friend. He cherished his nieces and nephews, and often attended their sporting events whenever he could. He was affectionally known as “Uncle Buck”. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and exploring the beauty of nature. He loved playing golf and hanging out with family, but mostly he treasured being a “dad” to Barkley. He was a good cook and took pleasure in baking for his family. He was exceptionally witty and loved subtle jokes. He could find humor in almost every situation, helping people through life’s difficulties. He took pride in the appearance of his yard, making sure Barkley had a beautiful place to play. Greg played baseball, basketball, and football for St. Catharine of Siena, and lettered in football at LaSalle High School (class of ’91). He attended the University of Cincinnati majoring in business. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents Norbert and Ruth Berding, and Joseph and Rosemary Maher, his stepfather Delbert, and his brother Stephen. He is survived by his mother, father, stepmother, 11 of his siblings, his nieces and nephews, and his dog Barkley. The passing of Greg has left a huge hole in the lives of the people that knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the enduring bonds of family. He will be remembered for his gentle smile, his unwavering kindness, and the warmth he brought to every gathering.Services will take place on Wednesday November 22nd at LaSalle High School, 3091 North Bend Road, Cincinnati. Calling hours begin at 11:30 am in the Alumni Heritage Room (park and enter in rear of building) followed by a Catholic Burial Mass in the Chapel at 1 pm. Greg’s final resting spot will be at Hillside Chapel in Clifton during a private ceremony at a later date.
