Earnest Smith

Earnest “Ernie” Smith age 89 of Hamilton passed away Tuesday November 14, 2023 in his home with his family by his side. He was born August 12, 1934 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of the late Charlie Smith and Margaret (White) Smith Mr. Smith met his beloved wife Lena at age 5 and were best buddies. They were married on October 10, 1953 and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2019 after 65 years of marriage. He was a truck driver for the Hand Oil Company and also for Turnbull Concrete in Hamilton. Mr. Smith was a very active member of Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God for many years and served in several capacities over the years. He is survived by his children, Charlotte Smith, Virginia (Russell) Perry, Ronald (Kathy) Smith, the late Rebecca Smith, Sharon (the late John) Dykes, Donald (Saundra) Smith, and Lonnie Smith; 11 grandchildren Bryan (Erica) Hacker, Brent Farmer, Callista (Todd) Stockhoff, Ronald (Ellen) Smith, April Smith, Ashley (Chuckie) Reese, Heather (the lateTony) Stevenson, Michael Rowland, Benjamin Rowland, Chasity Sergent, and Daniel Smith; 22 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters Marie (the late Lloyd) Barrett and Elizabeth (the late Corbin) Turner; and special friend Ben “Stupid” Samples. Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by brothers Tommy (Barbara) Smith, Henry (the late Ginger) Smith, and James Smith, and sister Oma Smith. Visitation on Friday November 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM at the Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God, 1321 Pater Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, with Pastor Dennis Matheny, officiating.
