David Dove

December 17, 1942 — November 29, 2022

David Dove, loving husband, father, and friend passed away on November 29, 2022 at the age of 79. David was born on December 17, 1942 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late David and Jean (nee Pope) Dove. He graduated from Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH. In 1966 David received a degree in Physics from Brown University in Providence, RI. After college he was an Army Chemical Staff Specialist at Fort McClellan, AL. He began his 32-year career with General Electric in Finance at corporate headquarters in Lynn, MA and later transferred to Military Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati, OH. After retirement he worked for TK Engineering before becoming a contributing photographer for many Community Press newspapers and local realtors. David was an avid music lover who played the piano throughout his life. He met his wife Katharine swing dancing, which they did for 25 years. He enjoyed golf, pool, tennis, snow skiing, hunting, sailing, and wind surfing- all with a joy and passion for life. He shared his athletic abilities by teaching others the skills he had developed. He liked to compete and was gracious whether winning or losing. He was known for his gentleness, kindness, and quick wit. He was preceded in death by his father David, mother Jean, and his beloved sister Barbara Slack. He is survived by his wife Katharine of Fairfield, OH; sister Janice Henderson of St. Joseph MI; two brothers Gordon (Alison) Dove of Gainesville, VA and Webster (Monica) Dove of Nashua, NH; two daughters Joanne (Ken) Kotz of West Newton, MA and Christine Dove of Morganton, NC; three stepsons Edwin (Sheila) Thompson of Englewood, OH, Thomas (Gail) Thompson of Waterville, OH, and Jason (Karen) Thompson of Troy, OH; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild. Dave also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other family, and close friends. Visitation will be on Monday December 5, 2022 at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral at 12:00PM with Dr. Terren L. Frenz officiating also with full military honors.
