Dan C. Hayes

March 24, 1947 — March 18, 2024

Dan was born March 24, 1947, to Daniel and Naomi Hayes in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dan is survived by his wife Yvonne Hayes, daughter Lorrie Castle (David), son Tim Hayes (Kaila), 3 granddaughters Margaret Helms (Matt), Olivia Totten and Sydney Hayes great grandchildren, Tycen, Maddox, Saylor Helms, sister Emmy Wade and many cousins. Dan met Yvonne (the love of his life for over 56 years) in 1967 through mutual friends and they married in August 1968. Dan started teaching in Cincinnati public schools in 1970 after graduating from Cumberland College with a degree in applied sciences in education. They moved to Hamilton in 1971 for Dan to teach at Roosevelt Jr. High and finished 35 years later at Garfield Jr. High. Upon retirement he and Yvonne packed up the camper and went to the parks every opportunity they could throughout the United States to enjoy campfires and the star light nights. Dan, an Eagle Sout, enjoyed all things outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting and was active in the Izaak Walton League of America and other organizations. Music from the Beach Boys, Janis Joplin, Neil Diamond, to country were always important to him. His friendships with people (high school, college, teaching, and the many organizations he belonged to) gave him great happiness. They raised Lorrie and Tim to be independent individuals and to achieve their dreams and live life fully. We will celebrate his life on Saturday, March 23 from 2 pm-5pm at the Izaak Walton League of America, 450 Beissinger Rd., Hamilton, Oh 45013. All are invited to join the family to share memories. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.websterfuneralhomes.com.
