Clyde Fields age 89 of Hamilton passed away Friday May 31, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 16, 1934 in Bond, Kentucky the son of the late Steve Fields and Maggie Mae Greer Fields. In 1953 Mr. Fields married Zetta Parks Fields and she preceded him in death in 1998. He worked as a coal miner in Hyden, London, and Harlan County, Kentucky for several years. He owned and operated Fields Citgo service station on Route 4 in Hamilton and then went to work as a mechanic for LEECO, a coal mining operation in Kentucky. After retirement he worked on lawn mowers at his home in Hamilton and became known as “the lawnmower man”. Mr. Fields enjoyed going to church and also working puzzles. He is survived by his two children Phyllis (Tim) Bray and Larry (Pam) Fields; four grandchildren Tim (Katie) Bray, Jr., Kara Bray, Brandy Fields, and Andy (Krista) Fields; eight great grandchildren Chloe Bray, Makenzie Taylor, Zane Taylor, Sophia Truett, Ethan Fields, Will Bray, Landen Fields, and Quincy Rogers; special great great grandson Knox Taylor; and four siblings Eva (Duke) Bailey, Gertrude Proffitt, Edna Mae Pennington, and Lois (Donnie) Chesnut. Mr. Fields was also preceded in death by his brothers Grant, Carl, and Clifford Fields and his special friend Ruby Fields. Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday June 5, 2024 at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield.
