Catherine Cox Farmer, 86, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on June 16, 2026. Catherine was born in Springdale, Ohio, to Charley and Ida Cox. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Dale M. Farmer. Known affectionately by many names—Kate, Sis, Mom, Mammother, Grandma, Gigi, and Aunty Cathy—she treasured her family and friends above all else, especially her grandchildren. Catherine lived a deeply rooted, Christ-centered life and was the very definition of hospitality. Her home was always open, serving as a gathering place for her children and their friends, to whom she became a second mother and trusted counselor. Always active in her church, she and her husband dedicated years to comforting grieving families by organizing countless funeral meals. In her final days, she was visited by many who reminded her of the profound comfort and help she had provided during their own difficult times. An excellent cook and talented amateur designer, Catherine transformed her backyard into what local children and grandchildren called "Cathy’s Wonderland," the backdrop for countless cookouts and family gatherings. While she will be missed terribly, her family takes comfort knowing her long suffering is over, and she has finally heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," as she celebrates a great reunion. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dale M. Farmer; her children, Dale (Anna) Farmer, Kelly (David) Blowers, and Steve (Rebecca) Farmer; her brother, Gary Phillip (Mary) Cox; and her beloved seven grandchildren Anthony (Rebecca) Blowers, Michelle (Ryan) Gee, Melissa Blowers, Kaleb (Emma) Farmer, Mahaley Farmer, Marissa Farmer, and Brenna Farmer; and three great-grandchildren Rylee Gee, and Sawyer Gee, Sabrina Blowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Ida Murphy Cox, and her brothers, Lawrence (Barbara) Cox, Art (Barbara) Cox, and Cecil (Patty) Cox. Mrs. Farmer will be laid to rest privately at Dayton National Cemetery. A memorial celebration will be held on her birthday, July 4, at 11:00 AM at the West Chester Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at give.cff.org in honor of Shelly Clemmons, a neighborhood child whom Catherine loved as one of her own. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. Online condolences can be made at www.websterfuneralhomes.com.
