Carolyn L. Dooley

November 14, 1940 — January 22, 2023

Carolyn Dooley (November 14, 1940 - January 22, 2023) With sorrow as deep as the ocean, the children and family of Carolyn Lee (Hehn) Dooley announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Marnie. As a family, we are united in grief for our loss and utterly devastated by the power of cancer. Through the final days of her life, we enveloped her in our arms as she did for each of us. We know we are blessed to be “one-of-the-five” - witnesses to her incredible life, receivers of her unwavering love and support. We know that magic is real because she showed us. We know devotion first hand because she wore it like a piece of jewelry she never took off. We know the circle is broken because we can feel it. She gave us the gift of unending Christmas wonders, the happiest childhood memories, adventures we will never forget, and a safe & loving homebase. She gave to the world one incredible man and 4 empowered women. We will draw on her strength as we learn what it means to live without her. We had just 3 short months to say goodbye. She was born in Cincinnati, educated at Our Lady of Angels and became a hairdresser before starting a family. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Richard. She is survived by her children Shawn (America), Colleen (Eric Getz), Heather (Darrin Kerby), Shannon (Richard Wullenweber) and Carrie (Joe Besl). Grandchildren Connor & Maria Dooley, Madison, Grayson & Whitney Getz, Caroline & Shane Kerby, Johnathan Wullenweber, and Zachary, Alexander & Joshua Besl. And so many near and dear friends she loved very much. Our mom was resilient, strong, and stubbornly private, but we want the world to know that she is gone. We take solitude that she is once again reunited with our dad in Heaven. We ask her friends and acquaintances to join us in prayer for the impact she had on your life and the loss that her passing can never fill. “There is no love as pure, unconditional, and strong as a mother’s love. And I will never be loved that way again.” - Hope Edelman A celebration of her incredible life is being planned. Details will be provided at a later date.
