Benjamin “Ben” David Heid, aged 22, surrounded by his loving family, passed into the arms of our loving Jesus, on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Hospice of Cincinnati, Blue Ash, Ohio. A cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Ben lived his life with a keen awareness and gregarious sense of purpose. Ben’s presence brought a warm dose of sunshine along with an easy charm that made people feel valued and seen. His engaging smile beamed happiness and joy. Ben and his sister Addy, though 8 years apart in age, shared a deep and enduring connection as siblings. Ben was born and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio until medical complexities required the specialized care of Saint Joe’s in Sharonville, Ohio where Ben then resided. We are grateful to Saint Joe’s for the years of care he received and community of relationships he enjoyed. We also want to express our deepest gratitude to our circle of friends for their invaluable ongoing support throughout Ben’s life. Ben’s high school graduation was remarkable given that he battled multiple physical challenges. His interests included bowling, movies and watching sports. Ben’s passion for music, especially drums, and love for the outdoors in nature were among his favorite activities. Whether Ben was at a Saint Joe’s event or the fundraising annual 5k he participated in, his celebratory enthusiasm drew people to him.

Ben is survived by his parents Jessica and Jason Winchester of Springdale, Ohio, siblings Brayden Winchester of Batavia, Ohio, Addelyn Winchester of Springdale, Ohio, Maternal Grandmother, Marianne Crockett (“Grammy”), of Springdale, Ohio; Paternal Grandparents Rick and Phyllis Winchester (“Papaw and Mamaw”) of West Chester, Ohio. Predeceased Paternal Grandparents: Don and Donna Heid (“Pawpaw and Grandma”) of Colerain Township, Ohio, Predeceased Great Grandparents Bennie and Kathryn Crockett of Springdale, Ohio

Aunt Joy (née Heid) and Danny Vernon, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Aunt Amanda and Uncle Donnie Daugherty, of Liberty Township, Ohio, Cousins Hope Heid of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; Gavin Heid of Colerain Township, Ohio; Connor, Kira and Caleb Daugherty of Liberty Township, Ohio. Ben’s legacy is joy. His jubilant and fierce, warrior spirit will forever remain in our hearts. We will honor Ben’s passing with grieving his loss for as long as it takes. We also hold onto God’s promise that when Jesus returns, all things will be made right, just and new. We believe Ben’s story will be revised as is written in Isaiah 35:6, “The lame man will leap like a deer and those who cannot speak will sing for joy!” And ours revised as well as is written in Isaiah 35:10, “Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.”

Until then, Ben.
