Ardene H. Myers (Muller) – known as Peg, Mom, and Nina to those who loved her most – passed at the age of 92 on December 8, 2025 in Lebanon, Ohio. One of the world’s kindest and most compassionate souls, she was born April 26,1933 in Parker, South Dakota to Lucile (Stoddard) and George Muller. In addition to her parents, Peg is predeceased by her older brother, Wayne Muller from California, and her younger brother, Doyle Muller from Colorado.

Peg grew up in Wessington, South Dakota on a 400-acre farm and graduated from Wessington High School in 1951, where she famously, at least to her family, played drums in the high school marching band. She attended nursing school from 1951-1954 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD and served as a nurse in Arlington, Minnesota then Ann Arbor, Michigan. While working in Ann Arbor, Peg met her husband John (“Jack”) L. Myers, and she married him in 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, SD. Between 1958 and 1963, they welcomed three children, John, Jennifer, and Jeffrey.

In 1964, Peg moved to Plattsburgh, NY with her family, where she lived for over 50 years. There, while raising her family, she worked as a registered nurse, and part-time at the Viking Ski Shop. In addition to her many volunteer positions, Peg could be found at all her kids’ sporting and extracurricular activities, where she loved to root for the Beekmantown and Mount Assumption Institution teams.

Peg was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Plattsburgh, NY, where she served as Deacon and Elder, sang alto in the church choir, and chaired her beloved Christmas Bazaar for many years. Her family still dons dozens of handmade – and often beaded – ornaments on their Christmas trees each year. Peg, a survivor of breast cancer, also donned a hot pink boa and sang with her girlfriends, The Boobie Sisters, for five years, bringing humor and raising awareness of the disease. Peg also loved to play tennis and platform tennis, ski, play bridge, and dance. She and Jack played many games with friends and grandchildren, but most importantly, they introduced Spades to each of their seven grandchildren – and, forcibly, their partners, too.

After her kids were grown, Peg traveled extensively with her husband, visiting five continents. She loved meeting new people, learning about new cultures, and enjoying a good river cruise. In 1998, she also began spending time in Orlando, Florida, hosting her kids and grandkids on school vacations at the many theme parks. There, Peg and Jack joined their cherished ‘winter church,’ Park Lake Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed their fellowship and worship services for many years.

In 2016, Peg and Jack sold their family home in Plattsburgh, NY and relocated to Lebanon, Ohio, to be near their daughter’s family. They joined the Otterbein community and immediately became involved in a multitude of campus activities. Peg, in her social manner, became a member of the Welcome Committee. Today her presence in the Otterbein community is on display as a beautiful photograph of Peg and Jack holding hands under a rainbow umbrella adorns the Otterbein halls. Otterbein became a cherished place for Peg to live out her time with dignity.

Peg is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 68 years, Jack; by her three children and their spouses: John and Lisa (Light) Myers of North Andover, Massachusetts; Jennifer and Bill Hathaway of Lebanon, Ohio; Jeffrey and Lynley (Provost) Myers of Burlington, Vermont; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her beloved niece Anne (Muller) Fisher.

Peg lived a life of faith, family, and friendship, and in her final days, she reflected that she was happy and ‘lived an incredible life.’ Yes, indeed, Peg/Mom/Nina: you lived a wonderful, compassion-filled life. We adore and miss you.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel/Multipurpose Room at Otterbein Senior Living Facility, Rt. 741, Lebanon, OH. After the service, refreshments will be served in an adjacent room. The interment will be private for the family only.
